What is smartness?
It is the ability to remember, analyze and retrieve or recall information in the least amount of time.
Learning: We learn about,
83% by visual stimuli,
11% by auditory means, and
6% by the three remaining senses
Smaller the database, faster is the recall time and that is smartness.
What inhibits smartness?
Too much information, unnecessary information,
You don’t need to know everything, try to know only what you need in a given phase of life e.g. Student, in work environment, etc.
The root cause that inhibits intelligence is too much TV – whatever you see (83% learning), you have no choice but to store it. Selectively you cannot say that I don’t want to store certain information you receive, rather it has to be stored in the memory. It becomes clutter and increases recall time and when the database is too big, sometimes the necessary information is overlooked. For example, in an exam, if you may remember the answer after 2 days or 1 week later it would be untimely and harmful.
Instead, complete homework, ask for help when needed, help parents when asked for, and exercise. In addition, older children are to spend time reading, writing, listening to relaxing music, hiking, biking or other beneficial activities.
